Superman Panel

After watching the wonderful educational movie Waiting for Superman, I believe the best part of the experience was the discussion panel. As I sat and listened to the debates going on throughout the panel and members of the audience a serious question roamed through my head all day. Dr. Crocker made a statement for the audience to think about. She said “Are we poor because were uneducated or are we uneducated because were poor?” I believe both parts of the statement can relate to society.
Many people are at their very lows because they decided education wasn’t good for them. When it comes to some people being poor it is because they didn’t meet the requirements of getting a job when it came to the educational requirements. Also some people can get talked out of their money especially when they are uneducated about topics such as politics and so on.
The part about are we uneducated because were poor is a broad topic. Many believe the upper-class people buy their way out of everything. The more money put into the school systems the better education you would receive in my opinion just because you have more and better resources. So being poor could actually hold you back from trying to further your education which would make you be uneducated about life.

  1. I couldn't have said it better. Now a days you can't even apply for a job if you don't have an education. I really enjoyed the discussion panel because it really opened me up to some of the things I didn't know about the education system. Being educated is all we have now, so why not take the next step in bettering yourself and your community.

  2. You are correct, better resources very frequently have an affect on the prosperity of society. I enjoyed this passage. Thank you.
